This Week #15

My bad for this post being up late, I've had a pretty busy week and I think over the weekend everything caught up with me and I just needed to chill.

This week has been pretty productive in terms of blogging, taking photos and general admin. I had a massive spring clean of my bedroom, getting rid of 6 bags of clothes and 4 bags of general tat, and I must say it feels like a weight off my shoulders. As cliche as it sounds, a tidy space does equal a tidy mind.

Friday and Saturday night were both absolute chill fests, sometimes it's easy to forget how nice it is to stay in and have a solo chill evening. It felt so nice to rest and recuperate. On Sunday I headed up to London for a family BBQ to celebrate my brother and cousin's birthdays. Our family love the booze and of course things escalated a bit.

I don't really have a massive amount planned for this upcoming week/ weekend apart from work. I might try and get ahead on some outfit posts/photos and get some ideas down for posts -- I've already started thinking about my Halloween/Autumn content, which is probably incredibly sad, but it's my favourite time of year and I want to go all out this time.

This week will also see my starting a new hobby, as my ballet class is on a 6 week break over the summer I wanted to fill the time with another activity, so one of my friends from work is going to try and teach me guitar. It's been on my list of things I've wanted to learn for years and finally I'm going to commit and actually try and learn. We shall see how I get on, I sense that I may be a lost cause.

Hobbit Encounters // Alice's Adventures Underground.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” // Lewis Carroll

For my friend's birthday I took her on an adventure in wonderland (well, the Vaults underneath Waterloo station) to attend 'Alice's Adventures Underground.'  Returning after a sell out run in 2015, the Olivier award nominated 'Alice Underground' is an immersive theatre experience in an adaption of  - you guessed it - Alice in Wonderland.

The website invites you to 'tumble down the rabbit hole and make a series of choices in a theatrical adventure like no other.'  It is definitely like no other theatre experience I've ever had. When I say it's an immersive theatre experience I really mean that, it's pure audience involvement, major hats off to the actors for their incredible improv skills. Whilst it tells the story of Wonderland we don't follow it from Alice's perspective our adventure is from the perspective of the card suits.

The thing that is so amazing about this experience is that no individual experience is the same, there are so many twists & turns and different elements. Every decision you make takes you on a different path and the audience involvement means that you are always on your toes and ready to set off on another part of the adventure. It's one that can be enjoyed again and again as well because even if you've been before you can guarantee that on your next visit you will experience something different. I don't want to give too much away as I wouldn't want to ruin anyone's experience, but on our journey through Wonderland we met so many familiar faces; The White Rabbit, The Mock Turtle, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum and the Mad Hatter, to name a few.

I must say that the actors in this show were absolutely phenomenal, all their performances were amazing, they all stayed in character consistently, despite having to involve so much improvisation. They were all so believable that reality felt truly suspended and you could for a minute believe you'd actually stumbled into Wonderland. The attention to detail in this show was absolutely insane, considering how vast the show is, every single prop, set design and costume was absolutely perfect and fit with the theme perfectly. It was so aesthetically pleasing and every where you looked there was a secret little detail or something exciting to look at. I'm a sucker for costumes and the costumes were to die for, I loved the use of props and puppetry to help set the scene. It was a theatre geeks dream I must say.

The fun isn't over once the show is over or even before it's begun because there is a really cool bar that you can visit before and after and I think even separately, which of course carried on the magic. Even the attention to detail in the bar was incredible, and it was the perfect stop for those Instagram snaps as cameras and photography aren't allowed during the actual performance. They even had an area where you can play flamingo croquet -- which of course, I was terrible at. The cocktails were all Alice in Wonderland themed of course, I would recommend a 'painting the roses red' it was so delicious, but I can't actually remember what was in it.

It most definitely wasn't the cheapest experience, costing at £50+ a head depending on when you go, but it is 100% worth the money, especially if you are looking to go as a treat or for a special occasion, it is so memorable and you will be talking about it for weeks after. I would thoroughly recommend going if you have the chance before it finishes, it's a must see in my opinion.

I absolutely loved our experience in Wonderland, it was truly magical and we had such an amazing time. Me and my friend both left with smiles wider than the Cheshire Cat's. I loved the unique twists on this classic tale. If you love Alice in Wonderland then what are you waiting for? If you're not the biggest fan, you would 100% still enjoy this crazy take on a trip to the theatre. I already want to go back and see where the adventure takes me next time.

Does this sound like your cup of tea?
Have you been? What did you think?

Think Pink // feat. Bleach London & Colour Freedom.

And here we go again...

If you follow me on instagram  you will have already seen that I have dyed my hair again. In fairness, I did already make it clear that once I'd gone back blonde that it wouldn't be that long before I dyed it again. This time I have gone for my personal favourite: pink. I love pink hair I think it is so stunning, it looks amazing in both bright and pastel shades. I am just obsessed with pink hair so I knew I had to re dye mine pink.

I used a mix of colours from two different brands; Bleach London and Colour Freedom. I've used Bleach London before and I am a massive fan. This was the first time I've tried Colour Freedom products and I was pleasantly surprised. The colour is very pigmented, it feels nice on your hair and you get a really reasonable sized bottle of dye.

My approach when it comes to hair dye is shove a bunch in a pot and mix it all together until it resembles a colour you like the look of. I love experimenting with colours and every time you top it up you get something a bit different which is really cool. Pink is obviously not the most long lasting colour which is a bit annoying, and these brands are not the most long lasting dyes that I've used but they do last quite a while, I normally have to top it up every couple of weeks. I may look into finding another brand that is a bit longer lasting to mix with these dyes to help keep it pinker for longer. My magic tip is to leave these dyes on for between half an hour and an hour, the packaging says it only needs 10-15 minutes but the longer you leave it the more the hair will soak up they dye, and because they are only vegetable dyes they won't damage your hair like other dyes do when you leave them on longer.

I love having pink hair again, it feels very me. I'm so excited to try different variations of colour maybe adding more of the peach to make it more peachy and even giving a more purpley pink a go. There are so many colour possibilities.

I would definitely give these colours a go if you are looking to try pink hair for yourself, they are really easy to use and create beautiful colours.

This Week #14

I'm currently writing this from the comfort of my bed cocooned in my duvet, nursing cup of tea after cup of tea...that's what Sundays are for, right?

This week has been mostly spent at work, and trying to catch up on blogging and enjoying this fabulous weather in the evenings. I've been desperately trying to get back into fitness this week, so I've started running again, went back to ballet lessons after a couple of weeks off and have been doing daily stretches to try and improve my back flexibility and get myself closer to being able to do the splits again. I am feeling super motivated at the moment.

Yesterday was a busy one for me, I was back in London in the morning/early afternoon to catch some of Pride, unfortunately we weren't able to be there that long as we were off to Hyde Park for BST festival to go see The Killers. From what I experienced of Pride i absolutely loved it and will 100% be going next year to experience it properly.

The Killers have been one of my favourite bands for like the past 10 years and I've been desperate to see them for so long and they definitely did not disappoint me. They put on such a good show, the atmosphere was absolutely insane . You can tell they are from Las Vegas because they definitely know how to give an epic performance, Brandon Flowers is such a showman. The whole thing was just perfect for me, they played all my favourite songs and I'm still buzzing from the whole thing. I hope it won't be the last time I see them perform live.

After such an amazing the day the journey home nearly destroyed me, we didn't get back home until 3:30 am, hence why I'm literally glued to my bed right now, I don't even feel hungover, just absolutely knackered. I'm getting too old for these late nights I think.

For now if anyone needs me I'll be back in my cave of blankets, drifting in and out of naps and watching some feel good films/anime's.

Summer Holiday Wishlist // Lace Up Swimsuit

Despite not actually going on holiday until the end of the year, I've been majorly looking for some summer outfit inspiration - basically I've just been creeping on swimwear. I've recently become so obsessed with the lace up style swimsuits, as well as cut out swimsuits & high waisted bikinis.

Rosegal is a fashion company that specialises in mixing vintage style and it's 'understated simplicity' and mixing it with contemporary styles to create the ultimate fashion hybrid. As I'm sure you all know by now that I have a very similar fashion style, I love taking vintage looking tea dresses or classic fashion pieces and making them modern & grunging them up a bit.

Rosegal offers a wide range of clothing, including some pretty fabulous beachy pieces and swimwear. I am absolutely obsessed with bright yellows mixed with monochrome at the moment and Rosegal's yellow crochet bikini's would look amazing paired with a black cover up/kimono and a floppy hat.

Here are some of the items from Rosegal that I've got my eye on that would be perfect summer holiday pieces.

Not my Images.

As I'm sure you are well aware by now, I'm obsessed with culotte trousers and these beautiful white and black striped Palazzo pants are no exception. These look like the perfect holiday trousers, because of the style they are airy and light, and the colouring won't absorb to much heat. They look absolutely stunning, I love the side tie detail, it really helps bring the look together and makes them look very classic and smart.

Not my Images.

Bright coloured prints always scream holidays to me, there's something about being in another place where you don't know anyone that brings out a bolder, braver sense of style. I absolutely adore this blue and white floral two piece, it's so beautiful to look at. I love co-ords because they are so versatile, you could rock this outfit with flip flops and a hat for a stroll along the beach or doll it up with some accessories and wedges to go out for dinner or drinks. The colours also just scream 'holiday abroad' at me, you know how all the houses you see when you go on holiday are white with blue details? Is that a thing? Or am I weird for noticing that.

I would definitely recommend checking out Rosegal if you're looking for some bits and pieces for your holiday. Their clothes look nice quality and are actually really affordable, they currently have some amazing sales and offers on, so go check out their 'deal zone'  for some absolute bargains.

What's your favourite item from this wishlist?

Hayley Williams 'Hard Times' // Get the Look

In case you hadn't already guessed from the amount I've gone on about it, I'm freaking obsessed with Paramore at the moment. Especially Hayley Williams, she is such a beautiful, talented human who always kills it with whatever look she is rocking. I am especially obsessed at the moment with her make up look for the music video 'Hard Times.'

I've been wanting to recreate the look for a while now, but I'm a bit shit at makeup so wasn't too sure how well it would go down. I've now realised I don't really care that much whether people hate it, it's my own interpretation. I've opted to make this look slightly more wearable in the sense that it's less giant colour panda eye's and is a bit more toned down - as toned down as yellow and blue eye shadow can be at least.

Most of the make up products I've used are from high street brands so they are all really accessible and pretty affordable.

FOUNDATION // Rimmel Lasting Finish - 200 Soft Beige
CONCEALER // Collection 2000
POWDER //  Loreal True Match -Rose Vanilla
BRONZER //  Bourjois Bronzing Powder
EYEBROWS // Stila -- In the Light Palette
EYE SHADOW // MUA - Poptastic Palette
EYELINER // Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner
MASCARA //  Rimmel Wonder'full
LIPSTICK // NYX Liquid Suede - Sandstorm
BRUSHES // Real Techniques & Eco Tools.

My technique is pretty slap dash -- chuck it on and blend it in until it looks pretty. I think because the original look was quite messy and over the top looking, it doesn't matter too much how precise everything is. I'm actually really happy with how this look has turned out, I think it's a pretty good homage to that bad ass look. I feel like I would actually rock this look out in public too, if I was feeling especially brave that is.

What are your thoughts on this look?
Would you be brave enough to rock it?
What's your favourite 'inspired by' make up look?

This Week #13

This week marks the beginning of a whole new month, welcome back July, you've come back around so quickly. I hope you bring with you sunshine & happiness. I look forward to your long nights, soft breeze and intermittent weather. I always feel so hopeful and motivated at the beginning of a new month, it feels like there is so much potential for a fresh start. Don't get me wrong that novelty will probably quickly wear off and I'll be back to my old bad habits in like a week, but it's always a nice thought while it lasts.

This week my motivation for blogging has it an all time high and my brain feels like it's overflowing with ideas and creativity, which is so awesome. It feels so nice to feel completely passionate for something again, and it's amazing to have a creative outlet that makes you happy, especially considering that I'm not loving my day job all that much at the moment.

This weekend I was reunited with some friends from school, one of whom I've not seen for like 3 years, we met up for brunch to celebrate one of our friend's birthday. It was so nice to catch up as a group and reminisce on old times and plan ahead to the future. It's always such a nice feeling when you can go so long without seeing someone but when you are reunited it's like no time has passed at all.

Next week is just another boring work week, but next Saturday I will be off to London to see The Killers perform live, which I'm so excited for.
